Commencement

Academia was supposed to be a calling.

Academia was supposed to be secure.

Now that the bottom is falling out, not only are you losing a career.

You’re losing an identity.

What’s next?

Not just a transition, a commencement

Most career coaching for academics treats the transition as a logistics problem: convert the CV to a resume, optimize LinkedIn, learn what to say in interviews.

Those things matter, but they aren't the hard part.

With Commencement, the aim isn’t just transition—it’s transformation. The program is designed for people leaving academia who want more than tactics. It’s for people who want to discover how they want to be in the world so that they can strike out on an aligned career path.

Commencement adapts twelve-step architecture used for recovery from ill-serving patterns and applied it to the unmanageability of academia: the perfectionism, the deferred life, the years spent proving your worth to institutions that refuse to recognize it.
